Meet your first reader

Hi, I'm Yaqi. The “us” starts here.

I run People at Metix AI. “Chief Dogfooding Officer” is not a joke: we sell an autonomous AI recruiter, so our own hiring has to run on it first. I dogfood the product on our openings before any customer sees a release.

I am not an engineer. I still built the page you are reading, start to finish. I vibe-coded it with Claude Code, committed it to the company repo, and shipped it like any other change. At Metix, everyone touches the codebase: GTM, content, design, and yes, HR.

AI should take the busywork out of hiring so our time goes to what always mattered: real conversations, and the right match. Candidates already work this way. Some of you now send an agent to comb job boards on your behalf, and I am all for it. That is the same instinct we build on, from your side of the table. Software does the finding; people do the talking.

If that sounds like your kind of team, I read every application myself. You don't need a resume to reach me, either. Want to talk about AI recruiting, vibe coding, startup life, or just make a friend in the industry? Say hi. Meeting people is literally my job.

How we work

Direct by design.

Early-stage work here is direct: talk to users, ship fast, learn from the market, and make judgment calls that actually matter.

AI-native by default

We expect people to use AI deeply, not decoratively. You already met the HR who vibe-coded this page; everyone here ships to the company repo. AI tool costs are reimbursed.

Close to the market

Whether you write content, run events, or design product, you will stay close to real customers.

Onsite-first

We have offices in San Francisco and Beijing, and roles based there are onsite-first. Remote is considered for exceptional candidates.

Real ownership

No polished playbook on day one. Your judgment, taste, and follow-through will shape the company.

Questions

The practical stuff.

How do I apply?

Email yaqi.wu@metix.ai with the role title in your subject line. Attach your resume plus whatever the role asks for: portfolio, writing samples, or links to things you have made. No cover letter required. If you want to say something, three honest sentences beat a page of formalities.

Who actually reads my application?

Yaqi, who you met above. Every application, no ATS auto-rejection, no keyword filter. If it's a fit, you'll hear back from her directly.

Do you sponsor visas?

Full-time roles can provide visa sponsorship. Mention your situation when you apply and we will figure out the path together.

Can I work remotely?

We are onsite-first in San Francisco and Beijing; early-stage speed lives in the same room. For exceptional candidates we consider remote, and the roles where that applies say so in the job description.

How do internships work?

Minimum 3 months, and longer is better. Beijing internships run 4 to 5 days a week; check each job description for specifics. Interns own real work here (real channels, real research, real events), and the sooner you can start, the better.

I don't see my role. Can I still reach out?

Yes. If you believe you would make Metix better, make the case. And if you just want to talk AI recruiting or make a friend in the industry, that counts too, email or LinkedIn both work.

Think you can help
hiring actually work?

Send your resume, portfolio, writing samples, or relevant links.
For internships, include the role-specific materials requested in the job description.
