About the role

  • Metix AI (formerly OpenJobs AI) is hiring a Product Design Intern to work on the design and rapid iteration of our core product.
  • This is not only about UI mockups. We want someone who can understand user scenarios, design interaction flows, and use AI tools to quickly turn ideas into prototypes or demos people can actually experience.
  • If you are already thinking about how the designer role changes in the AI era, this role is closer to a Design Engineer direction. Coding is not required, but we expect strong interest and hands-on ability with tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.

What you'll do

  • Participate in core product experience design, from user scenarios, task flows, and information architecture to page states, prototypes, and design notes.
  • Independently own interaction design for specific modules, including user paths, key screens, edge cases, and error flows.
  • Use Figma for prototypes and basic UI design, then use AI tools to build interactive demos rather than stopping at static screens.
  • Work with product and engineering on requirements, design review, implementation follow-up, and post-launch experience optimization.
  • Participate in user research and product analysis across hiring teams, candidates, and recruiters, then translate feedback into concrete experience improvements.
  • Track interaction patterns across AI products, recruiting products, and overseas SaaS products, and produce thoughtful competitive analysis.
  • Help improve onboarding, candidate matching, outreach flows, user management, and other critical product experiences.

Who you are

  • Design background preferred, especially interaction design, product design, HCI, or digital media.
  • Strong interaction design ability. You can break down complex workflows and design natural, usable, shippable experiences.
  • Familiar with Figma and able to independently create prototypes and basic UI designs.
  • Interested in AI coding or vibe coding, and willing to use AI tools to turn design ideas into interactive prototypes or demos.
  • Curious about AI products, recruiting, workplace social products, or B2B SaaS.
  • Able to work in English, read and write English documents, and understand English user feedback.
  • Clear logic and communication. You can explain your design judgment.
  • Self-driven and able to move forward in uncertainty without repeated prompting.

Bonus points

  • A complete interaction design portfolio that explains problem definition, process, and final solution.
  • You have built a side project, demo, web page, or interactive prototype with AI tools.
  • Experience designing AI products, B2B SaaS, recruiting products, or global products.
  • Familiarity with overseas products such as Linear, Notion, Clay, Ashby, Greenhouse, or Attio.
  • Internship experience at an AI company, design team, or product team.

What we offer

  • Real participation in 0-to-1 AI product design and iteration, not only edge pages.
  • Direct collaboration with an AI-native product and engineering team.
  • Heavy use of AI tools for product design, prototype building, and feature validation.
  • AI tool reimbursement.
  • Firsthand exposure to early-stage startup product rhythm, design methods, and GTM context.

Internship details

  • Full-time internship, 4 to 5 days per week.
  • Beijing preferred; remote considered for strong candidates.
  • Minimum 3 months. The sooner you can start, the better.
  • When applying, include your resume, portfolio, or demos and side projects built with AI tools. We care less about polished packaging and more about interaction thinking, product judgment, and hands-on validation.
